Your body does not digest food in the late evening as efficiently as it does during the day. Your gut's microbiome follows a biorhythm in which digestion is less efficient in the later evening hours and tends to favor storing your food as fat. Try to stop eating between 6 and 7pm in the evening and do not eat until breakfast the following morning. A 12 to 15 hour fast gives your digestive system a needed break and allows your body to use its energy to repair itself rather than for digestion.
