I am relatively new to Healthy Eating. I just bought a NutriBullet and want to start making healthy smoothies. What ingredients and how much contributes to a tasty, palatable drink? I know the smoothies will be green as a result of the veggies like kale. Some of my healthy eating relatives tell me two thirds of the smoothie should consist of kale and spinach. I want it taste good so I can get it down! What else?

Hi Gail! Well, there are many ways of making a good tasting green smoothie. To start, try from 1 to 2 cups of leafy greens. The milder tasting greens are spinach, baby kale or collard greens. I use two cups of kale, but I like it green and thick! Then, try adding a banana, berries, (1 cup or so,), and an apple or another fruit. I love using watermelon. Then, for better absorption of the micronutrients in the greens, I add a tblsp of whole flax seeds, chia seeds or hemp seeds. I prefer my "green drink" cold, so I also add 1 cup of ice. Then blend up and enjoy. There are many combos, but the 1-2 cups greens and a couple of fruits are a good place to start. Hope that it works for you. Let us know what mix of fruits and veggies you like best!!

That's what I do as well - sometimes some citrus works well when the greens are on the bitter side. Last night my 7yo daughter made up a smoothie that she liked - it has no greens in it but can be used as a base to add greens to. 2 baked apples, 1 small tangerine, 1tsp honey, 1 cup of mixed frozen berries, 1/2 cup frozen cherries. 1/2 cup water
