My Story:
You just don’t realize how in a split second your whole life can change.
In August 2002, I was training a 2-year-old thoroughbred and he reared up and ended up falling on top of me, crushing my pelvis.
In that moment, I became very calm and super clear. I remember thinking This is it. THIS is it! This is the end of my life.
My whole life started flashing. It’s going to end very soon.
They airlifted me to UCLA Westwood Hospital, and I was hemorrhaging to death.
I had a shattered pelvis.
14 pelvic fractures.
2 broken hip joints.
A fractured sacrum.
Internal injuries on the left side of my abdomen.
But by the grace of God, a miracle happened and my internal injuries unexplainably disappeared. The healing process began.
After I got out of the hospital, I started having horrible digestive problems: pain in my lower left side of my abdomen and terribly burning reflux. And I went to a doctor who told me they couldn’t find anything wrong. They put me on acid blockers, which are horrible for you--they make it so you can’t absorb enough calcium and interfere with your nutritional absorption process.
A year after my accident, I was on acid blockers and suffering with GI issues, but I got a job as a private chef.
One of my clients, who had heart issues, hired me to cook organic foods. He was having so much blood work all the time; his triglycerides and cholesterol were way up. One day he handed me Joel Fuhrman’s book to read, and he said he wanted me to cook like that.
I looked at all those nutrient-dense recipes and thought they were really weird.
But I made them.
And oh my gosh, I thought, this stuff is incredible, this is fantastic.
I started cooking and eating in an incredibly nutrient-dense way myself, and I could feel my body starting to get better.
Some people, when they’ve been through serious trauma, are so traumatized that their system can’t handle it. They develop autoimmune disorders and/or food sensitivities. Their bodies just reject everything, and they just waste away. And that’s what had been happening to me.
Joel Fuhrman, who I was working with at the time, really helped me get my health back on track.
Had I not known how to eat nutrient densely, I would have died. I would not have made it. And so to this day, I still continue.
When I speak about health and nutrition, I speak from a real place of authority. And the reason for that is because when I was working with Joel, I watched people come in with diabetes, heart disease, migraine headaches, all these different issues…and I would watch them get well.
And plus, I experienced my own journey.
So now when I hear that someone’s got diabetes I go, “Well, you know, you can probably reverse that in 6 weeks.” This is not from book learning--this is from seeing it time and time and time again.
And if somebody has GI issues or food absorption issues, I’m like, “Well, that’s no problem,” because I’ve really learned how it all works.
Because of this journey, I’ve been able to help a lot of people.
People are getting sick and dying needlessly because of a severe deficiency in plant vitamins, minerals, and trace minerals. And it just doesn’t need to happen. So I teach the facts--the truth.
Food really does cure all woes.

I have had Type 2 Diabetes for 17 years. I tried all kinds of diets, but every one of them was temporary, and I still felt like crud. I tried medicine after medicine to try to keep my blood sugar at a normal level, but nothing did a very good job. Finally, I had to go on insulin 14 years ago. I was taking insulin, Glucophage, and Avandia, and because of all the medication I felt bad for years.
