What in the world is Fru-Cream you might ask? It is my word for one of the most delicious desserts you can make!
Fru-Cream is a non-dairy “ice cream” made with frozen fruit. There are umpteen varieties you can make, depending on your imagination. It can be made in a high speed blender, food processor, or with a machine called the Dessert Bullet.
I have tried many combinations for this and still love the way plain ‘ole frozen bananas turn into a creamy, smooth, sweet treat on my tongue. Start by ripening bananas, and when they have brown speckles on them, peel and freeze. I break them into 4’’ pieces and put them in a ziplock bag and freeze overnight. When ready to use, simply run through the top of the Dessert Bullet and it will emerge as “Iced Fru-Cream”. If you use a high powered blender, put some liquid in to get the blades to turn (I use almond milk), and the consistency will be a bit softer than if you were using the Dessert Bullet. If using a processor, just put the frozen banana pieces in the container without liquid and process with the “S” blade until creamy. This also will be softer, but you can put it in the freezer for a few minutes to firm up. Warning though: it’s best to eat this soon after making it, because freezing for long periods of time will change the consistency, and it will be hard as a rock to scoop out. Allow one frozen banana per person for a serving (recipe following for a tasty treat).

BANANA FRU-CREAM WITH RUBY RED RASPBERRY SAUCE AND SHAVED DARK CHOCOLATE
Run 2 frozen bananas through the Dessert Bullet (if you would like to make this vanilla, scrape the seeds from the vanilla bean and stir in).
RUBY RED RASPBERRY SAUCE
Defrost one 12 oz bag of raspberries and blend with 1-2 softened Medjool dates until smooth. You can strain this if desired to make it smoother.
Scoop your Fru-Cream into the prettiest dessert dish you have and top with sauce and shaved, 70% organic dark chocolate.
