Whether you’re a healthy eating pro and leafy greens are your favorite part of your diet, or you’re new to healthy eating and aren’t sure where to start, green smoothies are an easy way to increase your daily fruit and vegetable intake. This week we made a kiwi lover smoothie. Kiwis are a low sugar fruit that pack a powerful nutritional punch. Abundant in Vitamins C, K, and E, as well as fiber, potassium, manganese, and folate, kiwis are a wonderful addition to a healthy diet. Packed with antioxidants and fiber, kiwis help protect against DNA damage and aid in blood sugar control and cardiovascular health. Plus, they taste great!
Paired with the strawberries and banana, this kiwi smoothie’s tropical taste might trick you into thinking you’re on a beach somewhere, instead of in a snowpocalypse. Here’s the recipe:
Kiwi Lover Smoothie
Serving Size: 2
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Ingredients:
4 kiwis
2 cups frozen strawberries
1 banana
2 cups baby kale
1 tbsp ground flax seed
3/4 cup water
Instructions:
Toss all of the ingredients into a high powered blender and enjoy!
