RecipEASY: Banana Sweetened Microwave Oatmeal

Whether you are looking to adopt a nutrient-dense, plant-based diet or are just trying to find healthier alternatives to some of your favorite dishes, we have great recipes on our site to suit your tastes!

Some of our recipes can look a little intimidating, though. That’s why we created a weekly segment called RecipEASY — to make healthy eating easier. We (Kate and Kayla) make a recipe from our site and break it down to give you helpful tips and modifications. Since neither of us are professional chefs, we are always looking for ways to simplify healthy recipes!

This week we made…

Banana Sweetened Microwave Oatmeal

If you are looking for a quick, easy, healthy breakfast idea, this one is for you! Oatmeal is a filling breakfast that you can easily throw into a thermo on the go.

Our shopping list was short (and we already had most things in our kitchen)! You’ll need rolled oats, cinnamon, bananas, and raisins. Find the full measurements here.

The full recipe makes 8 servings, so we knocked it down to a single serving when we made it. Instead of 4 cups of rolled oats, we used ½ cup, etc. We did forget to reduce the cinnamon, however, so our oatmeal was very cinnamony!

All you need to do is combine all the ingredients in a bowl and pop it in the microwave for 3 minutes! It’s a sweet treat that would be a great way to start your day.
