Summertime Blast Smoothie | Healthy Food Now

Summer is a perfect time of year to introduce more fruits and vegetables into your (or your family’s!) diet. Grocery stores have an abundance of produce, local farmers markets are popping up, and friends have fresh veggies growing in their gardens. You’ve got strawberries, watermelon, tomatoes, asparagus, blueberries, cantaloupe, cherries -- the list could keep going!

Whether you’re a healthy eating pro and leafy greens are your favorite part of your diet, or you’re new to healthy eating and aren’t sure where to start, smoothies are an easy way to increase your daily fruit and vegetable intake. You can start out with delicious fruit smoothies or jump to hardcore green smoothies.

But with all the fresh fruits, we thought a summer fruit smoothie would be the most appropriate! This week’s smoothie includes some of our favorite summer fruits: cherries, blueberries, and strawberries.

Here’s the recipe:

Summertime Blast Fruit Smoothie

Serving Size: 2
Prep Time: 5 minutes

Ingredients:

1 banana
1 cup frozen strawberries
1 cup frozen cherries (or already pitted cherries)
1 cup frozen or fresh blueberries
2 oranges
¼ cup of water
Sprinkle of chia seeds.

Instructions:

Add strawberries, blueberries, cherries, banana, and water to a high powered blender. Squeeze the oranges in and then blend until you get the consistency you want (adjust water as needed). Sprinkle chia seeds on top and enjoy!
