5 Ways to Change Up Your Salad Routine

Have you ever gotten bored of eating salad?

If you aren’t careful, you can fall into a healthy eating rut. After all, a salad everyday for lunch can get a little monotonous after a while -- especially when your coworkers are eating soft pretzels, cheeseburgers, water ice, and other unhealthy, tempting lunchroom treats.

If you don’t want to spend money buying new ingredients for every day’s meal, there is one simple way you can change up your typical salad routine: change your dressing!

Some may even say that the dressing makes the salad. But to avoid derailing your healthy eating plan, don’t just go buy 5 different dressings from the store. Store bought salad dressings can easily add a few hundred empty calories to your meal -- because how often do we just use the actual serving size of 2 tbsp?

A simple fix is to make your own salad dressings! If you have a high powered blender, all you need to do is throw the ingredients in and blend until smooth. It’s a quick and easy.

Here are 5 easy dressings you can make to change up your salad routine:

Healthy Caesar Dressing: Can caesar dressing really be healthy?! You bet it can. Try this recipe that uses no anchovies or Parmesan.

Black Cherry Vinaigrette: If you are looking for something sweet and fruity, this vinaigrette fits the bill. And all you need is rice wine vinegar, frozen cherries, and no-salt seasoning!

Creamy Herb Dressing: Dill, thyme, basil, and parsley come together to create a dressing bursting with flavor. If you are looking for a thicker, creamy dressing, this one is for you!

Lime Cilantro Dressing: Try this zesty dressing to bring a fresh flavor to your salad. It combines lime, cilantro, and dates into a unique blend.

Thousand Island Dressing: Bring the taste of the tropics right to your plate with this healthy thousand island dressing recipe.
